The inside of the mouth can many times be the first sign of disease. The tissue in the mouth is normally a coral pink color. When an area of discoloration appears, it can be a sign of something going on in your body. The most serious of these is oral cancer. If you notice a red or white area, or a lump or bump that does not go away, then you need to be checked by your general dentist or an oral surgeon. Other things to be aware of is a sore that never heals or a scratchy throat that does not get better.

Dr. Fugler welcomes the opportunity to check these areas of concern for you and if needed, send off for a biopsy to get a definitive diagnosis. It is important for you to check your lips, palate, inside of cheeks, tongue, and gums for any abnormal areas. If you do notice something of concern, then please call us.
